Historical Note

Shellhammer's Speedway was originally built by a group lead by Ralph Shellhammer in 1956 as a new home for the Berks County Micro Midgets. The club raced there for two years, and then folded, leaving the track idle. The track was severely damaged by Hurricane Agnes in 1972. A group of karters resurrected the track, reopening it in 1975.

A more detailed history appears under "General Information" on the official site.
