Palmyra Speedway was built in response to the end of racing at the Palmyra Fairgrounds in 1949. The track opened on Memorial Day in 1950. The track was successful, but was unable to control spectator access adequately (couldn't manage to charge them all admission), and so shut down after Labor Day weekend of 1955.
The track was located on the south side of NY-31 on the east side of Palmyra. The site is now used for a pair of softball fields behind the Moose Lodge.
