Track Facts

Historical Note

The Montpelier track dates back to the early 1900s, and was originally built at a 1/2 mile length for horse racing. Auto racing started in 1952, but was suspended due to lack of interest in 1959. Horse racing resumed, but eventually interest in horse racing fell off, and auto racing resumed on a new 1/4 mile track built in the infield of the original 1/2 mile track in 1986.
