The track opened in 1982 as a 3/8 mile dirt oval. The track was paved for the 2000 season. Between 1982 and 2005, the track operated as Cordele Motor Speedway, Cordele Speedway and Interstate Raceway. Beginning in 2005 the track was renamed Watermelon Capital Speedway. Beginning with the 2015 season, the surrounding area is billed as Crisp Motorsports Park, home of Watermelon Capital Speedway.
