The original track on this site was the old Delmar Speedway (also operated as the Delmar Raceway). The original Delmar Speedway was a 1/2 mile dirt oval which operated from 1949 to 1953. That track appears to have been paved as of June 7th, 1953, and operated as a paved oval through 1958. It may briefly have run as a dirt track in the last part of 1958. There was also a 1/4 mile dirt oval which operated from March to May of 1953.
The modern 1/2 mile dirt oval dates from September 6th, 1956. A 1/6 mile dirt oval operated in 1965-1966, as did a 1/3 mile dirt figure 8 track. The modern track has also operated under the names US 13 Super Speedway and Delmar Speedway.
