The Skip Barber School is based in Lakeville Connecticut, near Lime Rock Park. Skip Barber offers a number of programs, some oriented towards Race Driving, and some oriented towards Street and Highway driving. Among the professional racing schools, Barber is unique in that they travel to many racing venues throughout the United States and Canada during the course of a year.
For their race courses, Barber uses a "Formula Dodge", an open wheeled formula car built around a steel tube frame. For their high performance driving classes, Barber uses a variety of current model Dodge vehicles.
Barber primarily places the instructors in other cars on course, and on corners, observing students. Instructors ride in some sessions, including skid pad sessions, to provide some direct feedback on student driving practices. There is extensive classroom instruction.
For details of course offerings, see the official web site.
