The AHRA was once the second largest drag racing sanctioning body in North America, but now is restricted to sanctioning events at Spokane Raceway Park.

The AHRA was founded in 1956 in Kansas. Its glory years were from 1957 to 1963, after the NHRA went back to pump gas, leaving the more powerful fuel formulas to the AHRA.
